Come explore the Heartwood Preserve

Join our host, Heartwood Preserve, for presentations, discussions, walking tours, and demonstrations during the Nebraska Nursery and Landscape Association (NNLA) Field Day on Thursday, September 11, 2025. The event will include pruning session demonstrations and landscape and architectural tours, eligible for 3.0 CE hours. The first 48 attendee registrations will also receive an NNLA 100th anniversary commemorative gift!

Heartwood Preserve
A metamorphosis is taking place in the heart of Omaha. The Heartwood Preserve is a complete re-imagining of what urban development means. With nearly 500 mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly acres, it is poised to become the cornerstone for living, working, shopping, and playing in Omaha. At its core is the integration and protection of the natural beauty of the area.

Heartwood Preserve Maintenance Presentation & Discussion
Join us for a presentation focused on the overall preservation of the site's maintenance, including key considerations, challenges, and lessons learned in managing large landscapes. The event will also feature a round-table discussion, providing an opportunity to share insights and engage in a meaningful conversation about landscape maintenance.

Architect Presentation - David Meyer

Walk &Talk: A Tour of the Greenways - David Meyer
David Meyer, founder of Meyer Studio, will lead a walk-and-talk tour of the Heartwood Preserve greenways, sharing his inspirations for the design and explaining how it aspires to create a richer, more beautiful way to meet program requirements and enhance the human experience.

Prior to launching his studio, David was a longtime partner at PWP and co-founded both Schwartz Smith Meyer and Meyer Silberberg. He has been an adjunct professor at UC Berkeley for 25 years, where he teaches the capstone studio for graduate students in the School of Environmental Design.

2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
"How to Prune a Young Tree for Success" - Joel Kayser and Jason Kuehl
Join us for a workshop on the importance of pruning and training trees from the first day of planting. Pruning trees is not something that should only be done when an issue arises in 20 years, but something that can prevent issues from ever happening. Learn how to set up the newly planted tree for long-term success with pruning in years 1, 2, and 3 and how to provide a valuable upsell to the client.

Includes logo on all event materials plus one event registration.

Includes logo on all event materials, logo on 100th anniversary giveaway item, plus two event registrations. Must register before August 27th for the logo on items.
Platinum - $2,000
Includes logo on all event materials, exclusive logo signage at lunch, logo on 100th anniversary giveaway item, and three event registrations.

Cancellation Policy: A refund, less a $10 administrative fee, will be given for all written requests time-stamped/postmarked by September 4, 2025. The NNLA Board of Directors will review requests received after that date. In the unlikely event that the NNLA Field Day is cancelled due to uncontrollable circumstances, your payment will be considered a donation to NNLA.

NNLA is not liable for any injury or damage resulting from the willful acts of attendees. Attendees assume all risk and danger relating to the Field Day event, whether occurring before, during, or after the event.
